The cheapest eGPU < RM30 successfully installed
As I had thought, it should be possible to install the cheapest eGPU cards because they are just extensions of the PCIE wires from the notebook to the PCIE socket.
The problem was in installing drivers. When I installed my fanless ATI HD3450 graphic card to the cheapest eGPU cards, initially my system crashed. On booting in safe mode, I disabled a duplicated internal graphic card driver. I dare not disable all internal graphic cards because the monitor on my notebook, an Acer 5553 notebook is faulty. It was suggested by a youtuber to disable the internal graphics chip in order to use the eGPU to display on the notebook, instead of displaying directly to an external monitor.
I bought 3 versions:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/401323045962 uses an old PC power supply cable. US$6.39 each. It took a long time to arrive. In fact, it has just arrived today, when I have managed to prepare my old notebook for the eGPU testing. I had waited for its IDE hard disk. Although I managed to run Windows 10 on a thumb drive, I noticed that many drivers cannot run in Windows 10. I had to downgrade to Windows 10.
From Lazada, they are slightly more expensive but arrive very quickly.

I just use my notebook universal power supply to power this eGPU. It could be the cheapest eGPU ever. Costing less than RM32 each. You can get it cheaper from eBay but you may have to wait for so long.
The other versions of eGPU, are powered by a PC power supply but it is not easy to switch on this power supply. You need to short the power pin to ground.

This one uses the standard graphic card power connector but with a SATA power cable converter, as a female connector. I used the power supply for my USB2 to IDE/SATA converter to power these eGPU. Their power supply has the old standard PC power cable, but comes with an adapter to convert it to a SATA make connector, so that I can connect it to the above eGPU.
